GEORGE W. BUSH HAS WOMB ENVY

by Grace Beeler

Yours is a god
with no uterus
he makes
people and
animals
simply by pointing a
finger.
He does not know
the joy
of incubation
the thrill of the quickening
he looks at me
with jealous eyes, stamps his
feet, says
if I can’t
have that
I’ll break everything
points his finger
and makes you.
